MISSION

The Jamie Shaw Memorial Fund is charged with providing financial support for access to training and development for athletes and coaches in the Yukon. We will strive to honour Jamie's commitment to life long learning by providing financial support to those who need it most.

Home: Who We Are

SCHOLARSHIPS

We hope to carry on Jamie’s legacy through The Jamie Shaw Memorial Foundation by assisting youth and coaches in the Yukon continue with their journey of personal development and life-long learning.  The Fund will assist with the financial cost of athlete and coach development, and will provide for direct financial assistance for athletes to attend competitions.  The selection process will consider financial need, existing community engagement and plans for reinvestment in the community, and applicants’ dedication to sport and commitment to improvement.

ATHLETIC SCHOLARSHIP

$1,500 Towards Training and Development

To offset training costs for athletes to reach their full athletic potential.  This can include travel to attend training camps, tryouts or competitions, access to physical training or enhanced coaching opportunities.  

COACHING SCHOLARSHIP

$1,500 Towards Training and Development

To provide coaches access to lifelong learning opportunities in leadership or sport specific training (ex. conferences, seminars, certifications)

BURSARY FOR ATHLETIC TRIPS


$500 Towards School related athletic trips.

We will work with coaches in the communities to provide financial bursaries for those in financial need to attend sport competitions, tryouts, camps, etc.

2020 ATHLETIC SCHOLARSHIP WINNERS

Meet the Athletes

RALPH HERMOSA

Unfortunately, due to Covid his season at Augustana College in Camrose, Alberta has been canceled. We know that Ralph is working hard and doing his best to improve his skill set during these difficult times so that he can make an impact when things normalize. We are proud to support Ralph as he continues towards his athletic goals

MAREN BILSKY

Maren is entering her first year of the Sport Leadership-Exercise and Wellness program at Camosun College. After excelling with the FH Collins Warriors women’s basketball program she has earned a spot on the Comosun Chargers women’s basketball team this season.

ARCEL SIOSAN

Arcel Siosan is a dedicated young man who took a risk after graduating from Vanier and walked on with Dalhousie University's volleyball team. Over the course of his first year he worked his way from an unknown freshman to a starter and leader on a very skilled team.

CONNER LABAR

This year Conner has made the most of the opportunity created through his hard work by earning a spot on the Vancouver Panthers U15 AAA Prep team. Conner’s leadership and grit made an immediate impact on his new team and he was selected Captain for the 2020/21 season.
